Youth Activity Fund

The Youth Activity Fund is an exciting new initiative developed by the ‘Ashford Consortium Vulnerable Adolescent Sub Group’ and managed by ‘Connexions Kent & Medway’. The fund will allocate grants of up to £2500 to any organisation operating in Ashford and working with young people aged 13-19 who may be disadvantaged as a result of disability, poverty, social or school exclusion, or social isolation.

This fund has been set up with a view to promoting social inclusion among disadvantaged young people in Ashford and it also aims to help reduce youth offending and anti-social behaviour by involving young people in positive activities in the local area, and providing access to quality arts, sports and cultural activities and opportunities for personal development.

The fund is accessible by youth groups, schools and voluntary and community groups in Ashford and will be available until April 2009 to cover activity and transport costs.

The scheme is supported by a number of Ashford Leisure Providers who actively encourage young people to access their activities including: The Stour Centre, The Julie Rose Stadium, Olympians Fitness Centre, Great Chart Golf, Tenterden Leisure centre, Club Q, AMF Bowling, Cineworld, Kent Gliding Club, Rooting Street Riding centre, National Federation of Anglers, Pure Rush Paintball and South East Shotokan Karate Academy.
