Proof of Age Schemes

You may be asked in certain situations to prove how old you are. Proof of age cards are useful if you do not have a driving licence, or a passport.

PASS is the UK's national guaranteee scheme for proof-of-age cards.

Almost two million young people hold proof-of-age cards bearing the PASS hologram, and numbers are increasing all the time. For more information visit the Pass website.

The Validate UK Card scheme

VALIDATE UK is a voluntary proof of age card for everyone, it aims to ensure that age restricted products are only sold to those legally entitled to buy them; it also helps those who may look younger than they are to prove their age. The scheme is approved by the United Kingdom Government and displays the PASS hologram. 12-15 and 16-18 cards cost £5 and 18+ adult cards cost £7.50 including postage. All the details about applying for a Validate UK card can be found on the VALIDATE website.
